Types of Braces

Braces for KidsTraditional (metal) Braces

Traditional braces, or metal braces, are the classic braces that are durable, time-tested, and offer the “fun factor” because patients get to choose the color of bands they wish to wear.

Clear Braces for Adults

Ceramic (clear) Braces

Made of monocrystalline ceramic, these brackets are for the patient who wants the control of traditional braces, but with a beautiful clear appearance.  These braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth. For this reason, ceramic braces are often used by  teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns.

Self-Ligating Braces

A newer technology, self-ligating braces offer advantages for certain patients.  They are available in traditional metal and clear ceramic.  Dr. Rejman will let you know if these braces will be advantageous to your child’s, or your own, treatment.

Lingual (Invisible) Orthodontic Braces

Harmony braces offer all the benefits of traditional braces, but are attached to the back side of teeth where they cannot be seen.  Each bracket is custom made using digital CAD/CAM technology and arch wires are robotically formed.  The Harmony system is a great choice for adults or teens who want their teeth aligned without any indication that they are wearing braces or aligners.

Invisalign uses a series of custom, clear and removable aligners to straighten your teeth. The aligners are an amazing choice for some adults and teens, but not all.  Dr. Rejman will discuss whether Invisalign is the best choice for you. See more info
